As part of the extravaganza today, we have the
first-gen
1983 Ford EXP!
This was a little North-American-Ford Escort-derived coupe from the early to mid ‘80s, featuring some very ‘80s styling and less then stellar performance. Not many were sold in the grand scheme of things and VERY few survive. I don’t think I’ve ever seen one in person in my life!
Interesting cars though...there’s a shame you don’t see more of these at Radwood! :D

First off, what happened to part three?!?!?!?!?
I like how the AM radio was standard but could be deleted for credit towards other options. I can’t think of many other options that I would rather have over a radio, AM or not, so it may be possible not a single factory AM delete EXP remains.
And it says mileage will vary, but you can just throw the highway number out the window since it will ALWAYS be lower. What is the number there for then?

No idea on the fuel economy numbers....I imagine most back then were incredibly optimistic because of the fuel crisis that had happened not long before and everybody trying to switch over to small cars from huge gas guzzlers!

I don’t know. I just didn’t remember part three and clicked on your profile and it seemed to be absent. I do remember commenting on it now that you mention it, but where is it?
I get that the fuel economy numbers were probably hopelessly optimistic, but just flat out saying you can never reach that number in real driving seems equally strange. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a Ford EXP either.

Haha I guess that works. That was how I was able to post when the compose button disappeared a month ago. I looked up the link to create a post in Kinja and bookmarked it. That is fixed now fortunately.
